1. Lago Di Tovel

Lago Di Tovel is a stunning lake, situated in the Brenta Dolomites in Trentino, Italy.

It sits at a height of 1178m metres high and is 0.38 square km. This miracle of nature was formed by a landslide, 1300 years ago.

The lake is in the depth of the enchanted forests with the stunning Brenta Dolomites as a backdrop, so you can only imagine how incredible it is.

It’s emerald green water is something you’ll never forget, especially in autumn season with the contrast of the red and orange leaves. 

This is rated one of the best lakes in Trentino and rightly so!

There’s also a cool story as to why the lake used to be red in colour.

2. Lago Covel

Lago Covel is a another stunning glacial lake reflecting the snow capped mountains that make up its backdrop. 

It’s one of the most picturesque spots in Val Di Sole and definitely a haven for photographers.

There are numerous picnic tables surrounding the lake, as well as open grassy areas. So don’t forget to take a picnic when you visit. 

Lago Covel is not just a lake, there is also a small hike around the lake where you can take in the epic views of the mountains surrounding you.

If you walk at relaxed pace, it takes around half an hour to get back round to the starting point. 

During the peaceful walk surrounding Lago Covel you also pass by a small waterfall.

3. Lago Dei Caprioli

Lago Dei Caprioli is a huge alpine lake situated in the heart of Val Di Sole Trentino and is the ideal starting point for treks. 

This stunning lake is fed by several small streams and springs that flow from the Brenta Dolomites.

The lakeside restaurant is only open in peak summer months, so bring a picnic lunch outside this time. There are numerous picnic tables surrounding the lake, as well as open grassy areas. 

This little lake is also said to be one of the best fly fishing spots in Northern Italy. It is stocked regularly with German Brown and Rainbow Trout during the summer months.

The pine trees, snow capped mountains and nature walkways give it a real enchanted forest feel, definitely making it one of the best lakes in Trentino.

You can admire the mountains all day long from the reflections on the lakes crystalline waters.

4. Lago Di Molveno

It’s not difficult to see why Lago Di Molveno was voted one of the best lakes in Italy.

Spanning across 4.5 km in length, and 1.5 km in width, Lago Di Molveno represents the largest alpine lake located above an altitude of 800m.

Visiting this lake is one of the most popular things to do in Paganella in summer, amongst both locals and tourists, due to its incredible blue colours and lengthy beaches.

Plenty of activities are available both on and off the lake. Including, on the lake, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing and electric boat rides.

Not forgetting the water is perfect for bathing, with the temperature during the summer season ranging from 14°C to 21°C.

Then you also have the surrounding areas which include a mini golf course, pump track and the extremely popular Acquapark.

5. Lago Di Levico

Lago Di Levico is the ideal spot for an afternoon of relaxing with a picnic!

With tourists often comparing Lago Di Levico to a Norwegian fiord, it’s a peaceful haven amongst the pines that you won’t want to miss in Valsugana.

If you fancy a walk there are a few but the most popular trail is the Fishermen’s Road, which circles around the whole lake – 8.5 km in total.

In summer there’s plenty to do at Lago Di Levico including canoeing, swimming, sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding or renting electric boats.

And come winter, Christmas markets are set up in the Habsburg Park, plus there are a few sports that can be practiced on the snow.

6. Lago Di Caldonazzo

An incredibly sized lake, with plenty to do for visitors of any age!

Measuring 5 km in length and 1.87 km in width, Lago Di Caldonazzo is the largest lake in Trentino.

Many people think of Lake Garda as the largest however, Garda does not entirely belong to the Trentino region.

With plenty of activities to take part in such as; canoeing, sailing, wind surfing, water skiing, diving, swimming, rowing and camping there’s something for all the family!

You will find plenty of free beaches and play areas, so if you’re not so keen on the water sports a day of swimming and relaxing in nature is easy to come by.

Also, if you fancy a walk, there are plenty of routes available which you can check out via Komoot website. However, to circle the whole lake will take roughly 4 hours, covering nearly 9.5 miles.

7. Lago Welsperg

Not the largest, but definitely one of the prettiest lakes in Trentino.

Lago Welsperg, or Lake Welsperg, is a beautiful little gem located just outside of San Martino Di Castrozza.

The parameter of the lake can be circled on foot in less than 10 minutes. However, you may want to spend a little more time here.

Surrounded by incredible scenery, from forests to the Pale di San Martino peaks, all reflected beautifully on the water it is quite breathtaking.

Combine this with the peace and tranquility and Lago Welsperg is a mesmerising spot that you won’t want to leave.

There is a small traditional cafe at the entrance that offers a variety of locally produced cakes and baked goods and drinks.

In addition, if you are keen photographer, the mix of colours and scenery make for some incredible photo opportunities.

8. Laghi Di Colbricon

Laghi Di Colbricon, or the ‘Lakes of Colbricon’ as it translates, are located in the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park.

They are actually two lakes laying adjacent to each other in the middle of Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park.

You have to walk a little to reach the lakes, and the best starting point is Malga Rolle, just outside of Passo Rolle. There is plenty of free parking, and from here you simply follow the signposts.

Although the lakes are not swimmable, the views are incredible and definitely worth visiting.

Sitting on the shore of one the lakes and accessible only by foot, the Rifugio Laghi Di Colbricon restaurant is also very popular with visitors.

With mountainous backdrops, much like most of San Martino Di Castrozza, Laghi Di Colbricon really is a photographers dream!
