Lago Covel is a stunning glacial lake with beautiful reflections. As one the most picturesque locations in Val Di Sole, here’s all you need to know.

How To Get To Lago Covel

Many hotels in the area of Val Di Sole have bus transfers available to Lago Covel.

We highly recommend renting a car because you have the opportunity to explore the area in your own time.

If you rent a car for your entire trip in Italy, you can pick the car up from the airport where you land and drive from there into Trentino. Another option is of course a private taxi to the lake.

The warmest and driest time of year in Val Di Sole is during July and August. Not the best time for those interested in skiing but a great time to enjoy this beautiful area and Lago Covel.

With average daily temperatures at a pleasant 20°C it’s perfect for walking, picnicking and generally enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Lago Covel is a stunning glacial lake reflecting the snow capped mountains that make up its backdrop.

It’s one of the most picturesque lakes in Trentino and one of the top things to do in Val Di Sole. Definitely a haven for photographers.

Lago Covel is not just a beautiful lake, there is also a small hike around the lake where you can take-in the epic views of the mountains surrounding you.

If you walk at relaxed pace, it takes around half an hour to get back round to the starting point.

During the peaceful walk surrounding Lago Covel you also pass by a small waterfall.

We visited Lago Covel in the autumn season so it was completely silent with no one else around.

Many tourists, especially families, spend the day here during the summer enjoying the fresh air, nature and open space.

There are numerous picnic tables surrounding the lake, as well as open grassy areas. So don’t forget to take your picnic blanket and a good feast when you visit.

So there you have it. A small easy trek in nature, a gentle waterfall and a beautiful lake. Not forgetting a picnic, so you can sit, relax and take it all in.
