Laghi Di Colbricon In San Martino – A Complete Guide

Laghi Di Colbricon are two lakes in San Martino with incredible mountain backdrops. A great day out for all ages, here’s all the info for visiting.

How To Get To Laghi Di Colbricon

Laghi Di Colbricon, or the ‘Lakes of Colbricon’ as it translates, are located in the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park.

You must walk a little to reach the lakes and the best starting point is Malga Rolle, just outside of Passo Rolle. There is plenty of free parking and from here you simply follow the signposts.

To reach Laghi Di Colbricon is roughly a 40 minute flat trek. It’s an easy route, and a great day out for families/children of all ages.

For those staying in San Martino Di Castrozza the best option for public transport is the B122 bus. This will take you directly from San Martino to Malga Rolle in roughly 30 minutes.

However, we recommend renting a car for your entire Italy trip. That way you can pick up the car from the airport and explore the region at ease.

Another option is of course a private taxi to Malga Rolle, in order to begin the walk to Laghi Di Colbricon.

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

What To Expect At Laghi Di Colbricon

Laghi Di Colbricon are two lakes laying adjacent to each other in the middle of Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park.

Often referred to as Laghetti Colbricon and this is in fact the name for the smaller of the two lakes.

Although the lakes are not swimmable, the views are incredible and definitely worth visiting for. With mountainous backdrops, much like most of San Martino Di Castrozza, Laghi Di Colbricon really is a photographers dream!

A popular tourist destination, the Rifugio Laghi Di Colbricon restaurant is also a huge hit with visitors.

Sitting on the shore of one the lakes and accessible only by foot, certainly makes this pretty little mountain hut restaurant a special place. Along with the amazing views you can enjoy whilst having some delicious food.

Rifugio Laghi Di Colbricon restaurant is only open from 20th June to 20th September. Therefore, be sure to plan your trip around stopping here and grabbing some fresh local food from the family run restaurant.

Undoubtedly, the whole area of Colbricon is pretty impressive and it was also at the centre of important military operations in the First World War. Nowadays though, it can only be described as a place of complete and utter peace!

So, with paths that are never too steep, mostly shaded by the trees and the end result one of the most rewarding views you will find in San Martino Di Castrozza, this is a must visit!

Overall, Laghi Di Colbricon is suitable for families with small children, dog walkers, as well as anyone who fancies an easy trek or a run.
