30. Coppa Club

Coppa Clubs are like the old ‘members-only’ clubs except here everyone is welcome and there are no fees!

These welcoming and comfortable clubs with their chic interiors offer everything from coffee to cocktails and breakfast to dinner. Their riverside terraces also benefit from private igloos, so they can be enjoyed all year round.

London has two Coppa Clubs to choose from –

Coppa Between Bridges is between Putney and Fulham Railway Bridges. It has a snug library area for working, reading or relaxing, a restaurant with a riverside terrace and a central bar and lounge.

Coppa By The Tower is just around the corner from the Tower of London. It has a relaxing lounge area, a restaurant, a terrace that offers great views of the Southbank skyline and a bar.

Along with great cuisine, some of the Supper Clubs also offer entertainment or activities such as burlesque shows, live music, art classes etc all in a small, intimate venue.

I chose the Friday night ‘Dine and Draw Supper Club’, run by the Dulwich Art Group and School, which combined an hour of life drawing and cocktails, followed by a delicious dinner around one large table.

With everyone taking part in the life drawing activity, there was lots of laughter and a friendly ambience throughout the evening. Some finding this drawing challenge easier than others!

If you’re up for some adrenaline pumping competition, then axe throwing might be a great date idea for you.

There are a few different venues in London that offer this activity, with Axeperience in the Aldgate area of the East End rated as one of the best.

Sessions here run for 60 minutes, during which you receive a safety briefing, learn how to throw an axe and then compete in a tournament. (Additionally, an instructor stays on your lane with you for support and safety.)

With safety in mind, the venue is understandably alcohol free but they do offer a range of soft drinks and non-alcoholic beers as well as a range of bar snacks.

Opening times are Mon – Weds 12pm 8.30pm, Thurs/Fri 12pm – 10pm and Sat/Sun 11am – 10pm. Prices start at £30 per person during off peak times.

For a challenging date with a difference that actually involves a full-body workout, axe throwing is proving to be a popular choice.
