4 Best Hollywood Sign Viewpoints

If you’re looking for the best Hollywood Sign viewpoints, then look no further. Here’s my 4 favourite places to view this iconic location.

1. Canyon Lake Drive

If you are looking for the easiest option to visit and capture the typical Hollywood photo of this iconic sign, then Canyon Lake Drive is your best bet.

The Hollywood Sign is located in Griffith Park and Canyon Lake Drive is just on the edge of this park.

Here you can park and walk around/up the hill towards Mulholland Highway for one of the best Hollywood Sign viewpoints.

In fact it’s probably one of the top things to do in Los Angeles when visiting!

With the sign based high up on a hill, the surrounding views are incredible. Furthermore, if you head up early you’ll beat the midday sun and crowds!

There are so many options when visiting the Hollywood Sign, such as the Hollywood Hills Hike, or going all out and taking a Beverly Hills and Hollywood Helicopter Tour!

2. Hollywood Sign Hike (From Behind)

With three different Hollywood Sign Hike trails to choose from, I chose probably the most popular one, the Brush Canyon Trail. This is a moderate 1-2 hour hike on a well maintained route.

A really great view of the Hollywood Sign on this trail, is from the Tyrolian Tanks viewpoint, a wide flat area where you get a great face-on view of the shining white sign.

Hike another approximately 1/4 mile and a few hundred feet of elevation, to the back of the Hollywood Sign, and you will be rewarded with the most spectacular view.

Sprawling out below you, miles and miles of breathtaking views across Griffith Park and Los Angeles City with the iconic lettering of the Hollywood Sign framing the bottom of your view.

This has to be the most unique of the best Hollywood Sign viewpoints and will give you some awesome photo opportunities.

3. Griffith Observatory

Griffith Observatory offers up an amazing, although distant, view of the Hollywood Sign and the city of Los Angeles.

Located in Griffith Park, the Observatory is a 1930s, Art Deco Structure and is known as the crown jewel of this famous park.

A popular tourist attraction it houses an extensive array of space and science related displays. Furthermore, there is free parking and it is free to visit the Observatory.

I would recommend Griffith Observatory as one of the best Hollywood Sign Viewpoints. With the added bonus of being able to visit a spectacular building with lots to explore.

4. Tom LaBonge Panorama

Definitely one of the best Hollywood Sign viewpoints for sunset is the Tom LaBonge Panorama.

We parked in the Greek Theatre car park, at the southern end of Griffith Park, and hiked from there.

This is a moderately challenging hike but I can genuinely say that it is worth every single step!

On arriving at the Tom LaBonge Panorama you will greeted with breathtaking, 360 degree views that stretch as far as the ocean on a clear day.

Moreover, most importantly, it has amazing views of the legendary Hollywood Sign.

There are also plenty of picnic benches placed around this area for you to sit, relax and enjoy the vistas.

This has to be the best Hollywood Sign viewpoint to enjoy a lovely picnic and get some great sunset photos of the iconic Hollywood Sign.
