Tiu Kelep Waterfall and Sendang Gile Waterfall are located in the town of Senaru. They’re also two of the most famous waterfalls in Lombok.

Scooters are available for around 50,000 IDR a day for those that choose to explore Lombok on two wheels. Otherwise drivers are available to rent from most accommodations if you’re not confident on scooters.

The town of Senaru is the destination most people choose to stay a day before, and a day after, trekking Mount Rinjani.

Both waterfalls are walkable from the small town centre and take between 15-20 minutes to reach.

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

What To Expect At Sendang Gile Waterfall

Sendang Gile Waterfall is just 10 minute walk down from the entrance gate. You will reach it from the concrete staircase leading down, so you can’t miss it.

The waterfall wasn’t busy at all when we visited, just a couple of other tourists there.

At Sendang Gile Waterfall you can get in the water at the base of the falls. You can also get right underneath and it’s not so powerful, so you can enjoy a free massage from the cascading water.

What To Expect At Tiu Kelep Waterfall

Tiu Kelep Waterfall is definitely the big boy out of the two, and also a very good reason to travel up to the North of Lombok.

When you’re ready to move on from Sendang Gile Waterfall, you can head over to Tiu Kelep. The trail alongside the river takes around 15-20 minutes to get down.

If you’re unsure about visiting alone, or not confident with trekking, we recommend taking a guide with you by booking a Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfall Trekking Tour.

Just before you reach the waterfall, you have to walk through ankle deep water, so be careful as it’s very slippery. If you’re lucky, you may even get the young Indonesian children to help you across.

The whole back wall of the forest is taken over by the falls and there’s another even more powerful fall of its own that pours straight over the top. You might even see the rainbow gleaming through the water.

You can swim in the water at the base of the falls and feel the spray from quite a fair distance away. Unlike Sendang Gile, it’s super powerful, so be careful when getting up close.

If you have time on your Lombok itinerary we recommend adding these two gems in.
