Tembeling Beach, Pool & Forest In Nusa Penida – A Complete Guide

Tembeling Beach in Nusa Penida is an explorers dream. With a forest and natural pool to discover too, here’s a complete guide to visiting.

How To Get To Tembeling Nusa Penida

We broke down day 2 of our Nusa Penida itinerary by visiting Banah Cliff Point, Tembeling Beach and Peguyangan Waterfall on scooters.

The roads are pretty rough to all 3 of the above so please take care when driving!

We recommend using a scooter to get around the island which can be rented for around 70,00 IDR per day.

On the first day of our Nusa Penida tour, we took a Nusa Penida Full-Day Tour, which covered all the iconic spots with ease.

So, if you’d rather visit with a car and a driver we can highly recommend this option.

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

Best Time To Visit Tembeling Beach, Pool & Forest + Tips

The best time to visit the island is between May and September, when the weather is dry and it is easy to explore the island.

As Tembeling beach, pool and forest are a little bit off the beaten track for most tourists it doesn’t seem to get overly busy.

It’s a long walk down to the staircase where you have to leave your bike, so it would benefit you if can you take the bike down. But please be very careful!

You definitely wouldn’t want to take a bike down the road when it’s wet.

Save some energy for the hike back up the steps!

What To Expect At Tembeling Beach, Pool & Forest

As soon as we heard about Tembeling Natural Pool there was no way we were not going to visit!

In the few photos of the pool we found on google, the water looked crystal blue. It would be just like we’d imagined our time on Nusa Penida to be spent – jumping into things.

The start of the trail was easy enough to find. Although as soon as you turn off the main road the track leading down is definitely the worst we encountered on Nusa Penida, so take your time and be very careful.

Once you get as far as the bike is allowed, the concrete stairway is pretty straight forward.

It leads down, through Tembeling Forest, to Tembeling Natural Pool and out onto Tembeling Beach.

We arrived pretty late and apart from one elderly man having his daily bath, we were the only ones there.

We dived straight into the refreshing water and after the couple of days adventuring we’d had, it was an incredible way to finish!

The old man left and we rushed to get dry and run down to Tembeling beach for sunset.

It was definitely one of those ‘had to be there’ moments as we sat back on our private beach and watched the sun go down before heading up through the eerie forest to find our bike in the dark!

So, if you are looking for something a little bit hidden away from the more touristy hot spots, you will really enjoy exploring the magical Tembeling Beach, natural pools and forest.
