Tegal Wangi Beach is an awesome spot close to Uluwatu. It has its own naturally formed jacuzzis as well an awesome hidden cave. Here’s all the info.
How To Get To Tegal Wangi Beach Bali
Tegal Wangi Beach is located furthest North of the Uluwatu beaches.
We travelled down from Canggu on our scooters which took roughly 1 hour 30 minutes.
We always choose to rent scooters, which start at around 50,000 IDR per day, and explore ourselves.
However be sure to read up on our renting a scooter in Bali guide beforehand!
If you’re looking for somewhere to rent scooters from you can book a Bali Scooter or Motorbike Rental with Delivery.
Another option is to hire a Bali Private Car or Minibus Charter With Driver, which is pretty popular for day trips around Bali, and they start at around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

Best Time To Visit Tegal Wangi Beach + Tips
The best time to visit Bali and enjoy the beaches is during the island’s dry season, which is between April and October.
This time of year guarantees ideal weather for beach days. With days full of sunshine and temperatures averaging 30°C.
While still warm and sunny, during the wet season, you will get frequent and sudden heavy downpours.
As with any of the beautiful Bali beaches, getting to Tegal Wangi beach early will help you avoid the crowds.
Swimming in the waters is not recommended due to the rocky beds and strong undercurrents. However the natural pools left at low tide are perfect for a dip.
Also, this is another stunning sunset spot and great for photos.
What To Pack
What To Expect At Tegal Wangi Beach Bali
Tegal Wangi Beach, named after the temple perched on top of the limestone cliff, is one of the best hidden beaches in Uluwatu.
This beach is actually a well kept a secret among wedding photographers, as its simple and barren beauty makes for exotic backdrops and beautiful pre-wedding photo shoots.
The paved steps down to the beach make it very safe and super family friendly. It only takes a few minutes to get to the beach.
The ocean is pure and the beach is super clean with powdery golden sand, perfect for children to enjoy.
Be sure to check when the tide is out if you’re only going to experience the natural jacuzzis. This will avoid being crashed by the waves, plus it will not be safe at high tide.
The grassy headlands are borderless and although they provide beautifully unobstructed panoramic views, they can be quite hazardous during strong winds.

The best part about Tegal Wangi Beach is the hidden cave as well as the natural jacuzzis.
It was a beautiful experience to watch the sun go down whilst sitting inside the naturally formed rock pools. We can definitely say this was one of our favourite sunset spots in Bali.
We’ve been to Tegal Wangi in the day time and during sunset and we must say it’s a much better experience during lowlight in the sunset hour.
In addition, if you’re peckish, you can grab a corn-on-the-cob and a coconut from the top, either before or after you’ve visited the beach. We highly recommend the corn!
