Tamblingan Lake In Bali – A Complete Guide

Located at the foot of Mount Lesung in Munduk, Tamblingan Lake Bali is a quiet haven in the North. Here’s all the info for visiting.

How To Get To Tamblingan Lake Bali

Tamblingan Lake is located in Munduk, high in the mountainous region of Bali.

The higher you go, the colder it gets, however Tamblingan Lake is well worth the ride.

We always choose to rent scooters, which start at around 50,000 IDR per day, and explore ourselves.

However be sure to read up on our renting a scooter in Bali guide beforehand!

If you’re looking for somewhere to rent scooters from you can book a Bali Scooter or Motorbike Rental with Delivery.

Another option is to hire a Bali Private Car or Minibus Charter With Driver, which is pretty popular for day trips around Bali, and they start at around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

A popular tour that visits Tamblingan Lake is the Twin Lakes, Handara Gates, and Forest Trekking Tour.

Best Time To Visit Tamblingan Lake + Tips

The best time to visit Bali is between April and October, the island’s dry season.

Munduk in particular is one of the most popular spots on the island for photographs. So it’s typically pretty crowded with tourists!

However, as with anywhere in Bali the best time to visit is always earlier in the morning to beat the crowds!

What To Expect At Tamblingan Lake Bali

A peaceful paradise!

Tamblingan Lake is situated high in between the mountains of Munduk.

Still very untouched and maintained by locals, the lake and its surrounding area are an ideal way to have an afternoon away from the Bali crowds.

The entrance to Tamblingan Lake leads through a forrest and pops out directly in front of the temple – Pura Ulun Danu Tamblingan.

Accessible to tourists, and still actively used by the local communities, it is one of the most scenic temples in Bali to visit at any time of the day.

However, if you’re a keen photographer, we have seen some incredible photos at sunrise.

Off to the next spot we go…

Beyond the temple lies Tamblingan Lake itself, where local farmers use the marshland as crops for their cows, and many that visit tend to ride a canoe across the water.

Cool, fresh weather is hard to find in Bali, however at over 1,100 meters above sea level, Tamblingan Lake makes for the perfect place to relax.

We spent over an hour taking photos of the scenic backdrop and enjoying a very ‘different’ side to Bali.

In that time we were the only tourists there and saw just a couple of locals fishing.

We highly recommend Tamblingan Lake for anyone who likes to get away from mainstream tourism.

It’s probably one of the most beautiful spots we discovered in Bali, and very rural compared to most tourist locations in the North.

Hey thank you so much, and sorry for the confusion. Yes the price is for 4 people including the canoe! So if you are only two persons the tour is still 250,000 IDR for the group.
