History Of Sans Rival Dumaguette
Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries was founded in 1977 by the prominent local Sagarbarria family.
When Trinidad Teves Sagarbarria started making sweet treats for her family and friends, over 40 years ago, little did she know that her silvanas would eventually become Dumaguete City’s trademark delicacy.
What started out as a small family cake shop rapidly expanded into a countrywide, household name, with the original bakery still standing in the same place today.
The new branches have the changed name ‘The House of Silvanas Bakeshop’.
What To Expect At Sans Rival Dumaguete
Sans Rival Dumaguete is possibly the most famous dessert shop in the Philippines and for us it was definitely one of the best things to do in the Philippines.
With the title of the shop translating to ‘Without Rival’, it’s fair to say we can firmly back-up the name choice of this unique cake and pastry store.
Widely known for its Sans Rival cakes and Silvannas, a frozen cookie version of the Sans Rival, the original store opened in the 1970s.
Although since then, thanks to popular demand from Filipino’s visiting and taking treats home to relatives, the business has branched out into a bistro next door.
It also now serves rice meals and other confectioneries, although the original Sans Rival still stands.
We popped in to grab a box of of 10 Silvannas that cost 165 Pesos and it was the best decision of the trip. The cafe is cute and covered in blue, and the desserts are to die for!
