The Rumah Pohon Nusa Penida Treehouse is one of the most ‘stand out’ accommodations on the island. So here’s all in the information for visiting.
How To Get To Rumah Pohon Nusa Penida Treehouse
Day 3 of our Nusa Penida itinerary was broken down into heading out East on scooters. We started with Atuh Beach before moving onto the Rumah Pohon Treehouse, Thousand Island Viewpoint and Suwehan Beach.
The Eastern point is about a 1 hour 30 minutes drive from the ferry port and the roads are pretty rough as you get closer to all of the above locations. So please take care when driving!
We recommend using a scooter to get around the island which can be rented for around 70,00 IDR per day.
On the first day of our Nusa Penida tour, we took a private day trip, which covered all the iconic spots with ease. So if you’d rather visit with a car and a driver we can highly recommend this option.
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.
A popular tour that visits the Rumah Pohon Treehouse is the Day Trip to East Nusa Penida, Atuh & Diamond Beach.
Rumah Pohon Nusa Penida Treehouse Entrance Fee

Best Time To Visit Rumah Pohon Nusa Penida Treehouse + Tips
The best time to visit the island of Nusida Penida is between May and September, when the weather is dry and it is easy to explore the island.
Visiting early in the day, you will also avoid the midday heat which can get pretty sweaty as you clamber up and down.
Don’t forget your camera as this is a photographers paradise, with some amazing views waiting to be captured.
What To Pack
What To Expect At The Rumah Pohon Nusa Penida Treehouse
Once you pay entrance to the Ruman Pohon Molentang grounds it gives access to the Thousand Island Viewpoint also known as Pulau Seribu.
The stairway down is about a 10 minute walk and can be a little tough on a hot day. Although the views at the bottom are well worth it!
They also have a small warung style shop at the entrance which was surprisingly cheap at only 15,000 for a Mie Goreng.
The Nusa Penida Treehouse itself is one of many famous spots on Penida thats become somewhat touristy thanks to Instagram photos.
Originally set up as a Air BnB, the wooden treehouse sits on the edge of a cliff with stunning views and fresh ocean air flowing through.
When you see it in person it’s not hard to understand why it’s become an extremely popular spot to capture a magical fairytale like photo.

With the success of the original Rumah Pohon Nusa Penida Treehouse, the owners have since built another two treehouse accommodations. They are available to camp out in for a memorable island experience.
With a small shared toilet and not much but a few wooden walls to sleep in, it would definitely be an awesome break away from the noise and tourism of Bali.
Waking up to the views of the coast would make for an amazing end to your Nusa Penida trip. Although we’re not sure how we’d feel about people taking photos on our doorstep all day long!
