Notting Hill is one of the most photographed areas in London and the Notting Hill colourful houses are a huge reason as to why. Here’s a guide to visiting.
How To Get To The Notting Hill Colourful Houses
Colourful houses can actually be found all over the area of Notting Hill.
However, the most famous Notting Hill colourful houses are located in Hillgate Place. Just a short walk from Notting Hill Gate Underground Station.
Other popular spots in the area are Lancaster Road, Clarendon Road and of course the famous Portobello Road for it’s shopping.
Our best advice for getting around London is to use the underground. The London Underground is the easiest way to jump on and off between tourist spots.
Zones 1-2 contain all the central London districts, and most of the major tourist attractions. The daily cap for travelling in Zones 1-2 is £7.00 when using a contactless bank card.
If you don’t have a contactless card that works in London, the best option is to purchase a 1-Day Unlimited Travel Card.
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are even tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.
Also, for all tourists visiting London, I recommend purchasing a Go City London Pass.
These are a great way of saving money when visiting multiple tourist attractions during your stay in London.
What To Expect At The Colourful Houses Of Notting Hill
Notting Hill is one of the most vibrant and trendy areas of London. As well as one of the most photographed neighbourhoods in the capital.
It’s most famously known for its bustling Portobello Road market, and annual Notting Hill Carnival.
Nowadays however, many tourists from around the world are flocking to Notting Hill to take photos outside of the Notting Hill colourful houses!
The most photographed spot when it comes to pastel walls and ‘future home’ goals is Hillgate Place. As well as the side streets surrounding it, such as Farm Place and Callcott Street.
Hillgate Place is located just a short 5 minute walk from Notting Hill Gate Underground Station, so the colourful houses are super easy to find.
The area is usually pretty quiet throughout the day, as their are plenty of other interesting things to see in Notting Hill. Including the famous blue door from Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts’ 1999 British rom-com.
As you’re walking around Hillgate Place, just please bear in mind that these are peoples homes, so be thoughtful when taking snaps and try not to invade their privacy.
There’s also a beautiful little pub called The Hillgate, located on the corner of Hillgate Place and Hillgate Street. So if you’re looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat, or hide from the English rain, it’s ideal!
Other popular spots to find Notting Hill colourful houses are Lancaster Road, Clarendon Road and of course the famous Portobello Road for it’s shopping and market.
Notting Hill also makes for a great Fun Date Idea In London.
