One of our favourite days on the island was visiting Namuang Waterfall Koh Samui. Not to be missed – here’s all the info for the visiting.
How To Get To Namuang Waterfall Koh Samui
Namuang Waterfall Koh Samui is easily accessible by road. The two falls are located right next to each other and you can take the highway all the way there.
We stayed in the Chaweng area of Koh Samui and rented a scooter for 150 Baht per day. This gave us access to the whole island!
It took us around 40 minutes to drive across from Chaweng to Namuang Waterfall. Whilst nearby we recommend heading to Lipa Noi Beach for sunset!
If you’re looking for transport to and from Koh Samui, you can pre-book all of your Lomprayah transfers.
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.
Namuang Waterfall Opening Times
The waterfalls are open all day, every day of the year.
Namuang Waterfall Entrance Fees
Entrance: Free
Parking: 20 Baht for bikes / 60 Baht for cars
Best Time To Visit Namuang Waterfall + Tips
If you prefer less crowds and slightly cooler temperatures, it is probably best to visit early or late in the day.
You will find way fewer people at the top of Namuang Waterfall 2 than at Namuang Waterfall 1.
It’s quite a trek up to the top of Namuang Waterfall 2 but well worth the effort and you get to cool down in the beautifully refreshing water.
If there has been recent rainfall you will find the ground quite slippery on the hike up to Namuang Waterfall 2. The flow of the waterfall will also be heavier.
Appropriate footwear is recommended if climbing to the top of Namuang Waterfall 2.
What To Pack
What To Expect At Namuang Waterfall 1
From the carpark to the waterfall is literally a two minute walk.
The entrance and grounds are very well kept, as Namuang Waterfall are the most popular Koh Samui waterfalls and tourism is key for locals.
Namuang Waterfall 1 is a high rocky waterfall. Not one that shoots over the edge of a cliff but one that runs down the rocks and into the swimming hole below.
We had an awesome day at Namuang Waterfall 1. There were local kids playing around and dancing and tourists jumping from the small rock point at the side.
If you’re looking for an easy waterfall to get to and a chilled spot to cool off in, then Namuang Waterfall 1 is your spot.

What To Expect At Namuang Waterfall 2
Completely the opposite to Namuang 1, Namuang Waterfall 2 is a bit of a hike to the best part of the falls.
It’s around a 1 kilometre walk from the carpark to the base, up and over gravelled grounds. The base of the waterfall is quite cool and looks something like this…

If you really want the best of what Namuang Waterfall 2 has to offer, we recommend hiking to the top.
On the day it seemed pretty painful because of the heat. Although looking back it was only a 25-30 minute trek through the jungle.
The views from the peak of the Namuang Waterfall Koh Samui are incredible! There’s a little private rock pool giving some of the best feels of Samui ever and rewarding your legs after the trek.

The waterfalls look great! Are there signs for the hike to the top of the 2nd waterfall or did you just strive through the jungle? If so where did you go?

Thanks Christina! From the bottom of the 2nd waterfall you just follow the hike/ropes to the top! :)
