Munduk Waterfall In Bali – A Complete Guide

Munduk Waterfall is one of the more lesser known falls in Bali. Hidden in the mountains of the north, here’s all the info for visiting.

How To Get To Munduk Waterfall Bali

Munduk Waterfall is located high in the mountainous region of Bali.

It’s around a two hour drive from Canggu and 1 hour 30 from Ubud.

The drive is pretty straight forward and along the road in from Bedugul you’ll pass the popular Handara Gate, and the insta-famous Wanagiri Hidden Hills.

Upon arrival at the parking area, it’s roughly a 15 minute walk down via paved steps or walkway.

We always choose to rent scooters, which start at around 50,000 IDR per day, and explore ourselves.

However be sure to read up on our renting a scooter in Bali guide beforehand!

If you’re looking for somewhere to rent scooters from you can book a Bali Scooter or Motorbike Rental with Delivery.

Another option is to hire a Bali Private Car or Minibus Charter With Driver, which is pretty popular for day trips around Bali, and they start at around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

Best Time To Visit + Tips

The best time to visit Bali is between April and October, the island’s dry season.

Munduk in particular is one of the most popular spots on the island for photographs. So it’s typically pretty crowded with tourists!

However, as with anywhere in Bali the best time to visit is always earlier in the morning to beat the crowds!

What To Expect At Munduk Waterfall

Just a short 15 minute trek down from the parking area, and across a rickety old bamboo bridge, you’ll find a a single stream of water flowing from high in the forest.

Unlike most waterfalls in Bali, Munduk Waterfall is not one that’s ideal for swimming.

There was not much water at the bottom of the falls, and it has a very powerful flow. However it’s still a pretty epic spot for photos.

The nature around Munduk is beautiful

It’s more of a thing to do in Munduk if you’re looking for a scenic hike rather than an epic outcome.

Operated by a couple of locals, Munduk Waterfall is not super popular with tourists, meaning you’ll likely have the whole area to yourself. There is also a toilet and changing area near the entrance.

Either take a picnic and relax, or jump in for a splash, before heading over to the impressive Banyumala Twin Waterfall.
