Hiking Molveno To Brenta In The Dolomites – A Complete Guide

Dolomites trekking is the most popular thing to do in Paganella. With the Molveno to Brenta Dolomites route most common, here’s all the info for visiting.

How To Get To The Molveno To Brenta Starting Point

There are plenty of Dolomites trekking routes available in the area of Molveno. Most of which start from Pradel, an elevated province at an altitude of 1,367 metres.

To get to Pradel, simply take the cable car from Molveno (shown below on google maps as Funivie Molveno Pradel S.P.A.).

As you reach the Pradel plateau you will find a huge map with many different Dolomites trekking routes. For our experience we chose the ‘340‘ route.

We recommend renting a car for your entire Italy trip. That way you can pick up the car from the airport and explore the region at ease. Plus there are plenty of car parks available within Molveno.

If you’re in a large group, or would simply like an English speaking guide, then we highly recommend booking with Brenta Walk.

Best Time To Hike The Dolomites

There is actually an official hiking/trekking season in the European Alps which starts in the second week of June and finishes on the second to last weekend in September.

This is when the snow on the trails has melted and the weather is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking.

Comfortable clothing and shoes recommended, as with any trekking, although our trek was not overly strenuous.

This is a photographers paradise with some absolutely incredible views waiting to be captured.

What To Expect When Hiking Molveno To Brenta

A pretty straight forward, flat trek, with views that will blow your mind!

We were told that route 340 was one of the Dolomites trekking routes that didn’t require too much effort, yet still gave incredible views of the famous mountains. And it did exactly that!

Starting with breathtaking views back on Lago Di Molveno, one of the best lakes in Trentino, and the Paganella mountain range, route 340 lived up to all expectations.

After heading through the woods for around 20 minutes, we finally popped out along the narrow windy pathways with the Brenta Dolomites right in front of us.

It was like something straight out of a movie, and the mountains felt as if they were within touching distance.

The pathways were rocky but well maintained, and safety lines guided us around the cliff edges. At one point we even had to walk through a small tunnel carved into the mountain.

The Dolomites trekking route ends perfectly at Rifugio Croz dell’Altissimo, a mountain chalet, where you can grab some well deserved refreshment with the bonus of THE most picturesque backdrop! They serve incredible food as well as drinks!

Overall the Molveno To Brenta trek was a great half day activity and one we’d highly recommend for anyone travelling to Paganella.

For the really keen hikers that fancy putting in a whole day, the Private Full-Day Hike through the Dolomites would be a good option.
