Manjuyod Sandbar In Bais – A Complete Guide

If you’re heading to the south of the Negros or Cebu then a Manjuyod Sandbar tour package is probably on your list. Here’s all the info for visiting.

How To Get To Manjuyod Sandbar

Manjuyod Sandbar is located just off the coast of Bais in Negros Oriental.

It is possible to stay in Bais and arrange a tour yourself. However, most tourists choose to stay in the larger towns of Dumaguete or Dauin and book a Dolphin Watching & Manjuyod Sandbar Private Tour.

The catamarans to Manjuyod depart daily from Capinahan Wharf in Bais, and it’s around a 15 minute boat ride to the Sandbar.

When booked as a tour, it should include transfers to and from your accommodation to the port, dolphin watching, lunch, and time to explore Manjuyod Sandbar.

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

Whilst in the area, don’t forget to also check out Apo Island.

Manjuyod Sandbar Tour Package Rates

General rental of a boat and driver for the day is 3,500 Pesos.

The price is per boat and is the same amount whether you book for 2 or 20 people.

Dolphin Watching from Manjuyod Sandbar

On our Manjuyod Sandbar trip, we ventured out early in the direction of Cebu to find some dolphins before the Sandbar stop. And dolphins were what we found!

After around an hour of watching the waves, convincing ourselves we had seen a dolphin fin pop out of the water, you can only imagine how excited we were to finally find an actual pod of wild dolphins.

They leapt in and out of the ocean, playful as we’d imagined, and followed the boat for a good ten minutes. They were definitely showing off and it was amazing to see.

With the dolphin watching tour, it’s not always guaranteed that you’ll find the wild dolphins. Our trip was the first time the dolphins had been spotted that whole week.

So keep your eyes peeled and don’t set your expectations too high.

What To Expect At Manjuyod Sandbar

This natural sandbar stretches over six km at the lowest tide and is famous for its beautiful, soft, white sand.

The first thing you must check before you visit Manjuyod Sandbar is the timing of low tide.

You can either check the tides online if you know what you’re searching for or check with your accommodation. They will have all the up to date information on the tides throughout the week.

We visited at the lowest tide possible during our stay in Dauin in February, arriving at around 10am, but even then the water was at 0.4 metres deep.

So unfortunately we didn’t get to see the sandbar peeking up from the water. Although the location itself was still fascinating as it’s uniquely situated out in the middle of the beautiful blue ocean.

Boats lined up at Manjuyod Sandbar

It’s an amazing place to hang out with the locals as they float around selling coconuts.

There are also banana boats that you can take a ride on around the outside of Manjuyod Sandbar. Also a few stand alone stilt houses make for a great photo backdrop.

All in all, although the water levels slightly dampened the experience, we still highly recommend a visit to Manjuyod Sandbar if you’re travelling through Negros!
