Love Koh Tao Viewpoint is a popular spot for families, couples, or those that just want to hang out with a view. Here’s a guide to visiting.
Love Koh Tao is located in the centre of Koh Tao island, a small but popular tourist spot in the South of Thailand.
The only way to reach Koh Tao is via ferry from the mainland or surrounding islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.
If you’re looking for ferry transport to and from Koh Tao, you can pre-book all of your Lomprayah transfers.
Once on Koh Tao there are many places to stay, however the most popular strip runs adjacent to Sairee Beach, the tourist hub of Koh Tao.
From Sairee Beach it’s only a 10 minute drive up to Love Koh Tao Viewpoint.
We rented scooters for 150 Baht per day from a local bike hire shop. We highly recommend doing this as it’s the easiest way to explore the whole island.
It is possible to trek to Love Koh Tao Viewpoint by following google maps, however it may be a steep and sweaty climb.
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.
Entrance Fee: 20 Baht
If you buy something from the shop then the entrance fee is waived.
There’s a great little menu at Koh Tao Viewpoint, offering food such as spring rolls (100 Baht) and Pad Thai (80 Baht).
Daily: 8am – 12am.
As with any tourist attraction, the best time to visit Love Koh Tao Viewpoint is first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds. The earlier the better!
Although, it really depends on what you want to do there.
If you’re looking to grab one of the front facing hammocks and chill for the whole day, then we recommend heading up to secure your spot first thing in the morning.
However, if you’re just looking to pop in, grab a snack and take some photos, then any time is good as there’s plenty of space available.
If you’re looking for a good sunset spot then Love Koh Tao Viewpoint probably isn’t the one.
You may still get a pink sky, however the viewpoint faces to the East (and the sun sets in the West) so it may be better to head to another of the Koh Tao Viewpoints.
What To Pack:
Located on the East Coast of the island, Love Koh Tao is a family run guest house that offers the most incredible views over Tanote Bay.
However, tourists flock to Love Koh Tao daily, with the majority of people visiting for its terrace cafe.
Open to the public between 8am – 12am, the well decorated outdoor seating area has table service, as well as netted beds that hang over the cliffs below.
With satisfying views overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, and ice cold fruit shakes available, it’s the perfect place to wind down and spend a few peaceful moments between exploring.
There are a various unique things to do in Koh Tao dotted around the island, each with their own charm. However Love Koh Tao viewpoint was definitely one of our favourites.
We recommend hiring a scooter and heading up to Love Koh Tao viewpoint early in the day. You can then ride down to Tanote Bay after for a swim and some beach time!
Aside from the guesthouse and its popular cafe, Love Koh Tao viewpoint was definitely designed with those that like to take photos in mind.
Love Koh Tao faces the East, and directly out to the ocean, so it’s almost certain that you’ll witness a beautiful sunrise if you head to this epic viewpoint early in the morning.
You’ll find numerous signs and little colourful figurines scattered through the gardens. As well as many different places to sit and enjoy the view.
When we visited, we had the pick of the seating area to ourselves, and chose to relax on the floor cushions with low tables.
The spring rolls were great, the hosts were super friendly and talkative, and of course the view speaks for itself!
So if you’re looking for the perfect place to stop and take a break from your adventures on Koh Tao, you should definitely mark this spot on your map.
Take a moment out from exploring, treat yourself to a refreshing drink and take in the awesome views that Love Koh Tao Viewpoint has to offer!
