Lio Beach El Nido really took us by surprise. It was an up and coming spot that we hadn’t planned on visiting. Here’s all you need to know.
How To Get To Lio Beach El Nido
Lio Beach El Nido is located about 15 minutes away from El Nido town by tricycle.
The tricycle ride should cost no more than 300 PHP one way, but you can probably agree on a 500 PHP return fare. They don’t normally let more than three people in a tricycle, although we managed four.
If you want to make your own way there by scooter, you can rent one from El Nido town from around 500 pesos per day.
We also heard there is also a daily shuttle bus going from El Nido town to Lio Beach, didn’t see it.
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

Best Time To Visit Lio Beach El Nido + Tips
For the best beach weather it’s best to visit El Nido during the dry season, between November and April.
Although this beach wasn’t very busy when we visited, we think it will become increasingly popular. So if you’re planning on spending all day, get there early to have the choice of the best spots!
This a beautiful beach with a lovely vibe and we would definitely recommend spending some time here.
Also, don’t miss sunset. If you can make it you won’t be disappointed!
What To Pack
What To Expect At Lio Beach El Nido
It was originally the restaurant ‘Shaka’ that brought us to this location. We’d eaten in this chain of restaurants before and were craving some delicious vegan food (and a smoothie bowl).
When we arrived, we were completely surprised at how beautiful it was, especially at sunset! The beach was not crowded whatsoever and they have a few beach chairs that you can use for free throughout the day.
Lio beach is a huge strip of clean coastline with soft sand, turquoise water and a whole load of palm trees and coconuts. So there are plenty of shaded areas to get some respite from the sun when it is at its hottest if needed.
We enjoyed the music gently playing in the background that drifts out from some of the relatively new bars and restaurants. With a choice of eateries and bars you also won’t be short of an ice cold drink and some delicious snacks either.
Making it for us, definitely one of the best things to do in the Philippines.
With it being situated close to El Nido airport, you may also get to experience an aeroplane coming in to land (or take off).

The area around Lio Beach is packed with cool, quirky shops where you can buy souvenirs or hip, stylish clothing.
Many shops surrounding the area are still under construction so we really believe this will be the up and coming hotspot of El Nido. The vibe at Lio Beach is just what every traveller craves.
We happily enjoyed a smoothie on this spacious beach with a swing and a stunning sunset.
