Haad Rin Beach Koh Phangan has some of the softest white sand on the island. Here’s everything you need to know when visiting.
How To Get To Haad Rin Beach
Haad Rin Beach is located on the southern tip of the island, and is the most spoken about Koh Phangan beach due to the full moon party.
If you’re looking for transport to and from Koh Phangan, you can pre-book all of your Lomprayah transfers.
We stayed in the Thong Sala area of Koh Phangan and rented scooters for 180 Baht per day.
It’s definitely the easiest way to explore the island, and takes roughly 30 minutes to reach from Thong Sala Pier.
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.
If you are based in Koh Samui and just want to attend the famous Full Moon Party at this Beach, the Van and Speedboat Full Moon Party Transfer will get you there.
Haad Rin Beach Entrance Fee
It’s free to visit Haad Rin Beach.
Haad Rin Beach Opening Times
Haad Rin Beach is open all day, every day.
Best Time To Visit Haad Rin Beach
The best time to visit Haad Rin Beach is between December and March, when the weather is dry and sunny.
The water is also pretty calm and clear during this period, making it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
If you are a party animal and want to enjoy a full moon party at Haad Rin Beach then just wait for the full moon – you won’t be disappointed.
Even if, like us, you’re not a party animal, a visit to the famous Full Moon Party is highly recommended as a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience.
What To Pack
What To Expect At Haad Rin Beach
Haad Rin Beach can be divided into two sections.
There’s the sunrise beach, Haad Rin Nok. The most popular and also the most lively party beach where the famous Full Moon Party is held. This happens once a month at full moon.
Then there’s the sunset beach, Haad Rin Nai. The much quieter beach and best to visit in the day time to hang out and enjoy the beauty.
We only visited Haad Rin Nai, once in the day time to chill out and once at night for the Full Moon Party.
With it having the largest concentration of rooms, clubs and bars, most tourists flock here to get right amongst the party vibe.
In the day time it is definitely one of the most stunning Koh Phangan beaches. Considering this is the spot where all the parties happen, we didn’t expect it to be so beautiful.
There are restaurants and shops located in the nearby town, which is just a few minutes walk away from the ocean.

Full Moon Party
Most of the nightlife in Haad Rin Koh Phangan happens at the beachfront.
Apart from the music and bars on the beach, a famous feature of Haad Rin Koh Phangan are the nightly fire shows.
Given the constant parties in this beach town, the area itself is relatively clean.
We attended the Full Moon Party in July 2018 and, bearing in mind that we don’t drink and never really party, it was surprisingly not as bad as we thought.
There were a lot more families with young children than we expected and it wasn’t all drunken tourists and vodka buckets.
If you are based in Koh Samui and just want to attend the Full Moon Party, the Van and Speedboat Full Moon Party Transfer will get you there.
