Best Time To Visit Gitgit Waterfall + Tips
The best time to visit anywhere in Bali, if possible, is between April and October which is the island’s dry season.
You can visit the falls year round but you need to consider the increase in rainfall between November and March. This always makes the jungle treks a little more difficult and slippery.
Swimming is permitted at Gitgit Waterfall and you are sure to get pretty wet from the spray alone, so you might as well go in for a refreshing dip!
What To Pack
There are paved steps all the way and it’s completely family friendly. The hike to the waterfall takes around 15 minutes.
The grounds are well maintained and since tourism has boomed in Bali, the whole journey to the waterfall is a trail in between markets.
So, on you’re way back to your car or motorcycle, you’re bound to be stopped a few times to buy a sarong and a key ring or 5.
Situated high up in the mountains and surrounded by stunning rice paddies, Gitgit Waterfall is definitely a rising hotspot for tourism. It’s a jungle heaven for all photographers and day to day tourists.
The parking area is situated on a main road with a few shops nearby, so there’s plenty of food and refreshments available.
The Waterfall Itself
Gitgit Waterfall is a huge and impressive waterfall and is up there as one of the largest in Bali.
At the base of the waterfall there are toilets and changing facilities. As well as a seating area to place your bags.
There are no lockers though, so be sure to keep an eye on your belongings.
You can swim right up to the intensity of the falls. Or, if you’re looking to chill in a more quiet area, you can head back a little from Gitgit Waterfall and relax in the pools at the bottom of the rocks.
You can find this spot just to the left of the toilets.
Chill, take photos and have an awesome day at one of the best waterfalls in Bali!
Also, on your way up north, a Bali tour wouldn’t complete without visiting the beautiful Jatiluwih Rice Terraces.
