Trekking Cima Rosetta In San Martino – A Complete Guide

At 2743m high, trekking Cima Rosetta is one of the best things you can do in San Martino. A relatively easy trek, here’s all the details for visiting.

How To Get To Cima Rosetta

Cima Rosetta is one of the peaks that make up the Pale Di San Martino group of mountains. And this group is one of the 15 ranges that make up the Dolomites.

The trek itself is one of the easiest Dolomite treks you will find across the region. To get to the starting point,  you must take two cable cars.

The first will be from San Martino town, using the Col Verde cable car, arriving at Rifugio Colverde. Then simply change onto the Col Verde-Rosetta ski lift and you will arrive at Bar Ristorante Arrivo Funivia Rosetta. The starting point of the trek.

For those staying in San Martino Di Castrozza, you can simply walk to the Col Verde cable cars. However, we recommend renting a car for your entire Italy trip.

That way you can pick up the car from the airport and explore the region at ease. Another option is of course a private taxi to Col Verde.

What To Expect Trekking Cima Rosetta

Incredible views from the top of San Martino!

After taking a couple of lifts from San Martino to Col Verde Rosetta, you will be eager to breathe the fresh air and observe the most epic views. Fortunately trekking Cima Rosetta is a pretty simple hike, so it won’t take too much time or effort.

You will arrive at Bar Ristorante Arrivo Funivia Rosetta after the final cable car which is 2700m above sea level. They have a restaurant and appropriate facilities you can use before the hike to 2743m.

The views are breathtaking from the top. It’s a completely different experience to be on top of them, instead of standing below, looking up at them!

The Trek

Cima Rosetta is easily accessible in the summer and is not only popular among trekking enthusiasts, but also children and family of all ages too. The path leading up to the peak is rocky and a little curvy.

At the top of Cima Rosetta, there is a slightly steeper incline to reach the pinnacle. Please be wary of your own safety and those around you because it is pretty tough to finish.

However, the final hurdle is well worth the climb as the views are incredible! You’ll know that you’ve arrived the top when you reach the big cross.

After reaching Cima Rosetta, there is only one way down and that’s the same way you came up. At the bottom however, we decided to carry on walking past the starting point, to Rifugio Rosetta.

At the cosy mountain hut, we feasted on mushrooms and polenta until we were fully recharged.

Overall, trekking Cima Rosetta wasn’t too strenuous. It is an absolute MUST if you’re in the cute town of San Martino Di Castrozza!
