Bukit Merese Lombok, or Merese Hill, is the perfect place to catch sunset in Kuta. With stunning views of the coastline, here’s all you need to know.
How To Get To Bukit Merese Hill
Merese Hill, known locally as Bukit Merese, is around a 20 minute drive East from Kuta, the main tourist area in Lombok.
We always choose to rent scooters, which start at around 50,000 IDR per day, and explore ourselves. These can usually be rented from your accommodation or they will point you in the right direction.
Another option is to rent a driver, which is pretty popular for day trips around Lombok, and they start at around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).
If you’re visiting Merese Hill for sunset, make sure to spend the day at Tanjung Aan Beach which is located within the same grounds.
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.
Bukit Merese Hill Entrance Fee
Entrance: 10,000 IDR per scooter.
This covers entry to Tanjung Aan Beach & Bukit Merese Hill.
Bukit Merese Hill Opening Times
Bukit Merese Hill is open all day, every day.

Best Time to Visit Bukit Merese Hill
The driest months on the island of Lombok are July and August, although the weather is pretty good all year round with a mix of wet and dry as the climate moves towards the drier season.
The peak season for tourists is between May and October and it does get pretty busy.
It’s worth visiting Bukit Merese Hill at any time of day as the views are pretty spectacular. It doesn’t actually get too many visitors during the day.
However, expect it to fill up later in the day as people start to gather to try and catch the famed sunset views.
We’d visted Tanjung Aan Beach the day prior and didn’t realise Bukit Merese was located within the same grounds, so had to pay once again on entrance. We learn from our mistakes!
What To Pack

What To Expect At Bukit Merese Hill In Lombok
So we’d heard it was the best spot for sunset in the South and it didn’t disappoint!
We headed up to Merese Hill at around 5pm after a long day of exploring around Kuta.
The parking is so close to the hill that it’s only a tiny walk up and the view is incredible!
There’s a single lonely tree that’s become quite the photo spot on social media. So after playing around and getting some shots we were just in time for a pastel skyline.
The simplicity of the surroundings at the top of Bukit Merese makes for such a calm setting. And we were lucky enough to catch the best sunset of our Lombok trip!
If you’re heading to Kuta anytime soon make sure to save one evening for a trip to the top of Bukit Merese Lombok and you won’t be left disappointed! A must for any Lombok itinerary.
