Broken Beach In Nusa Penida – A Complete Guide

Broken Beach Nusa Penida is one of the most picturesque locations on the whole island. So here’s all in the info for visiting.

How To Get To Broken Beach

If you head to Kelingking Beach first, then Angels Billabong and Broken Beach are a further 45 minute journey by car.

If you’re on a private Nusa Penida itinerary then Angels Billabong & Broken Beach will probably be your second stop after Kelingking Beach.

On the first day of our Nusa Penida tour we booked a private day trip, which covered all the iconic spots with ease.

Scooters can be rented for around 70,000 IDR per day either from the ferry port or your accommodation. The roads are pretty rough on Nusa Penida though, so please take care when driving!

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

If you are based in Bali, the Bali/Nusa Penida: East & West Highlights Full-Day Tour visits Broken Beach.

Broken Beach Entrance Fee

It is free to visit Broken Beach.

Parking: 10,000 IDR

This covers both Angels Billabong and Broken Beach. After the carpark there are no further charges.

Best Time To Visit Broken Beach

The best time to visit the island is between May and September, when the weather is dry and it is easy to explore the island.

Broken Beach is a popular tourist attraction on Nusa Penida so we would recommend getting there early to beat the crowds. Also it will be cooler.

Don’t forget your camera – the views are stunning!

You can’t get to the beach or swim at Broken Beach but you can always go onto Angel’s Billabong, a 5 minute walk away. Here you can take a refreshing dip in the natural infinity pool.

What To Expect At Broken Beach

Broken Beach is another one of the top picturesque destinations on Nusa Penida Island. Known for its beauty and photogenic scenery, this is not the place to come for a beach day!

At Broken Beach you’ll find a beautiful cove in the cliff rocks, carved out over many years by the waves, with a small white sand beach visible from the cliff tops.

The clear blue water flows into the cove through a naturally formed rock archway, offering some great photo opportunities.

Unfortunately, you can’t actually get down onto the beach presently. So this is just more of a really great viewpoint than anything else.

All keen photographers, especially travel photographers, will be in heaven at this well known landmark in Nusa Penida.

The name Broken Beach is said to be due to the arch-like formation looking like a hole in a wall and hence the name broken!

Follow the signs around from Angels Billabong and you’ll find the archway that allows the ocean to flow in. The views from here are stunning.

Up at Broken Beach Nusa Penida is where you’ll find food and refreshments if you’re due a pit-stop.

So, have an awesome day, get some photos and stay safe whilst enjoying some of the natural beauties of Nusa Penida!
