Bottle Beach in Koh Phangan is hard to get to by land but definitely worth the journey. Here’s all you need to know about the best beach in Koh Phangan.
How To Get To Bottle Beach
Bottle Beach is located at the Northern most point of Koh Phangan island.
If you’re looking for transport to and from Koh Phangan, you can pre-book all of your Lomprayah transfers.
There are three options when preparing to get to Bottle Beach:
The Safest Option
Take a boat taxi from Chaloklum Beach.
It will cost 150 per person one way (if you have a minimum 4 people).
The Hardest Option
Hike from Haad Khom Beach.
This will take roughly 2 hours and pretty intense so we’ve heard.
The Cheapest (But Riskiest) Option
Scooter from Than Prawet Waterfall.
This can be very dangerous as the roads turn to steep gravel slipways. So don’t attempt when wet!
We stayed in the Thong Sala area of Koh Phangan and rented scooters for 180 Baht per day.
It’s definitely the easiest way to explore the island and took us roughly 1 hour to reach Bottle Beach from Thong Sala Pier. Although, please only go if you are really confident on scooters!
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.
Bottle Beach Entrance Fee
It is free to visit Bottle Beach.
Bottle Beach Opening Times
Bottle Beach is open all day, every day.
Best Time To Visit Bottle Beach
With temperatures hovering around 32° to 36° and up to 9 hours of sunshine a day, the months between November and April are probably the driest and best time to visit Thailand.
The months from April to May are the hottest in the country and with temperatures regularly topping 40°, are to be avoided unless you like it really hot!
July onwards starts the monsoon, and the next three months are the wettest, so not a good time to make the journey to Bottle Beach.
You can get food at the beach resorts or take a picnic with you.
What To Pack

What To Expect At Bottle Beach In Koh Phangan
Bottle Beach Koh Phangan is definitely one of the hardest beaches to reach but one of the most rewarding. In our opinion, it was the best beach in Koh Phangan.
We headed out on our scooters early one morning to hit the west side of the island and cut in to Bottle Beach.
We’d heard horror stories about the roads and they definitely were steep and easy to skid on, although they were nowhere near as difficult as those on the Nusa Islands.
We visited Bottle Beach Koh Phangan on a stone dry day and we can imagine it would be especially dangerous when wet!
When we finally reached the beach we were not disappointed – it was a beautiful, peaceful little piece of paradise!
Totally secluded and hidden by tropical hills on either side, with just a couple of restaurants and holiday bungalows on the beach, there was hardly anyone there.
So, if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of some of the busier beaches and don’t mind the journey to get to Bottle Beach, this is a great spot.
The white sand was so soft and the turquoise waters clear and warm, even on an overcast day, perfect for a relaxing dip.
If you’re feeling a bit more energetic and like to keep active you can always have a game of beach volley ball.
In addition, if you enjoy snorkelling, it’s recommended that you go to the rocky end of the beach where it is possible to see lots of different fish.
If you’re looking for an adventure with a paradise reward at the end, then Bottle Beach Koh Phangan is the one!

Do you know, if it is also possible to take a boat the way back from Bottle Beach to Haad Khom, not to Chaloklum?
