4 Best Beaches In Nusa Penida

We spent plenty of time on Bali exploring the best Nusa Penida beaches. So here, all for different reasons, are our top four.

1. Kelingking Beach

Kelingking beach has to be the most beautiful of all the Nusa Penida beaches.

The T-Rex shaped cliff side at Kelingking Beach has rocketed tourism in this area into the sky with its natural beauty.

Thanks to social media, Instagram especially, this view point is now top of most people’s list of attractions when heading over to the Nusa Islands.

A lot of people choose to book a tour, we took a Nusa Penida Full-Day Tour when we first visited, however it’s also possible to visit without a guide.

Kelingking Beach itself is a secluded, white sandy haven surrounded by turquoise waters. It’s definitely rated as one of the most beautiful things to do in Nusa Penida by anyone that visits Bali.

To get down to Kelingking Beach takes around an hour and you go at your own risk. The bamboo railings are not greatly maintained and therefore you shouldn’t put 100% of your weight on them.

It’s certainly the hardest of all the Nusa Penida beaches to get to. However, having said that, Kelingking Beach is a spot that cannot be missed when ticking off the best beaches in Nusa Penida.

2. Crystal Bay Beach

Palm tree heaven.… and that’s all you need to know really! Out of all the Nusa Penida beaches, none of them have palm trees like Crystal Bay Beach.

If you want to swim, snorkel or just relax on Penida, Crystal Bay Beach is your place!

It’s also impossible not to get some great photos here with the beautiful white sand, turquoise water and statuesque palm trees.

It’s a secluded beach blocked off by a whole jungle of palm trees and the perfect spot for a beautiful sunset.

So, of all Nusa Penida beaches, Crystal Bay Beach would be the perfect spot to finish at!

Therefore, save some time at the end of your trip for soaking up the sun or catching a sunset to remember at Crystal Bay Beach.

3. Atuh Beach

Rated as another one of the best Nusa Penida beaches, a trip out East to visit Atuh Beach should definitely be one for the top of the list of things you do on the island.

We visited Atuh Beach twice on separate Nusa Penida tours. Once getting caught in a thunder storm midday and another when visiting for sunrise.

The latter of the two journeys, we jumped on our scooters and headed out East to catch sunrise. It was a 4am start and we drove for over an hour to catch an awesome morning over over Atuh Beach.

There are some great rocky backdrops that make for some good photos.

One of the most important parts to planning your Atuh Beach visit though is watching for weather and choosing high or low tide!

4. Suwehan Beach

The final stop of our Nusa Penida itinerary was Suwehan Beach and it was like revisiting the Philippines.

Looking down at the water from above at the lookout point at Suwehan Beach was blue beyond belief and we couldn’t wait to get down the 342 steps to cool off.

Once on the beach you are surrounded by towering cliffs and you will see a huge jagged rock jutting out of the sea making for some great photo opportunities.

Make sure you don’t visit Suwehan Beach at high tide though as the water covers the whole beach.

In fact, if you plan on visiting any of the best beaches in Nusa Penida, make sure to check the tides first.
