Batu Bolong Beach Bali is one of the most popular spots in Canggu to surf and chill. From beach clubs to surfing schools, here’s all the info for visiting.
Batu Bolong Beach Bali is located at end of Batu Bolong Street, directly in front of Old Man’s Beach Bar & Restaurant.
For those staying in Canggu, it’s easily walkable from the main street of Batu Bolong and very popular for surfing too.
We always choose to rent scooters, which start at around 50,000 IDR per day, and explore ourselves.
However be sure to read up on our renting a scooter in Bali guide beforehand!
If you’re looking for somewhere to rent scooters from you can book a Bali Scooter or Motorbike Rental with Delivery.
Another option is to hire a Bali Private Car or Minibus Charter With Driver, which is pretty popular for day trips around Bali, and they start at around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).
For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

Best Time To Visit Batu Bolong Beach
The best time to visit Bali and enjoy the beaches is during the island’s dry season, which is between April and October.
This time of year guarantees ideal weather for beach days. With days full of sunshine and temperatures averaging 30°C.
While still warm and sunny, during the wet season you will get frequent and sudden heavy downpours.
As with any of the beautiful Bali beaches, getting to Batu Bolong Beach early will help you avoid the crowds.
With beautiful sunsets and some great restaurants/bars to choose from this is a great place to visit in the evenings. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the chilled vibe.

There’s a surf board rental as you pull up at Old Man’s carpark.

Batu Bolong Beach is located right at the end of the busiest strip in Canggu.
In a prime location, it’s surrounded by some of the most popular and recognisable restaurants and bars, like Old Man’s and The Lawn.
Head down and have a drink, grab a bite or just a coffee after a surf, catch the chilled and lively vibes or watch the epic sunsets.
Sunset, eats, drinks, surf, and music served over a daybed overlooking the Indian Ocean. A blend of daytime lounging, intimate dinners, and infamous Friday nights.
At Batu Bolong Beach itself, you’re always guaranteed a great atmosphere, whether it’s day or night.
The beach is a wide 1.5km stretch of black sand. You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas for the day that are usually available at 50,000 IDR per person.
Batu Bolong is always packed out with tourists as this is where the majority of people gather for sunsets, beach clean ups, drinks at the beach bars and even the Canggu markets.
There is always so much happening around, so keep a look out for posters and advertisements for all the parties/events going on in the area throughout the year.
There are endless surf schools dotted along the coastline, so if you’re up for ticking surfing off your Bali bucket list, this is one of the most popular places to do it.
Echo Beach, which is the next beach along, is also super popular for it’s surf.
