Bali Twin Lakes Viewpoint – A Complete Guide

Bali Twin Lakes Viewpoint overlooks both Tamblingan Lake and Buyan Lake in Munduk. Here’s all the info for visiting one of the most beautiful spots in Bali.

How To Get To Bali Twin Lakes

Bali Twin Lakes are located in Munduk, high in the mountainous region of Bali.

The higher you go, the colder it gets, but the Bali Twin Lakes Viewpoint is well worth the ride.

The large stone block can be found along the main road, the same road that’s also famous for Wanagiri Hidden Hills, and is pin pointed on google maps as ‘Bali Twin Lake Trekking Point’.

As you drive down the road you can’t miss it on the left hand side. It’s a huge grey coloured platform with locals hovering around in front of it trying to sell photos with ‘wild’ animals such as bats and snakes.

We always choose to rent scooters, which start at around 50,000 IDR per day, and explore ourselves.

However be sure to read up on our renting a scooter in Bali guide beforehand!

If you’re looking for somewhere to rent scooters from you can book a Bali Scooter or Motorbike Rental with Delivery.

Another option is to hire a Bali Private Car or Minibus Charter With Driver, which is pretty popular for day trips around Bali, and they start at around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).

For those short on time, or that prefer everything to be organised for them, there are some awesome tours on Get Your Guide available to book in advance.

Best Time To Visit + Tips

The best time to visit Bali is between April and October, the island’s dry season.

Bali Twin Lakes Viewpoint is a relatively unknown spot, however it’s located not far from Wanagiri Hidden Hills, one of the most popular spots on the island for photographs. So it’s typically pretty crowded with tourists!

As with anywhere in Bali the best time to visit is always earlier in the morning to beat the crowds!

What To Expect At Bali Twin Lakes Viewpoint

An incredible vantage point overlooking two of Bali’s most beautiful lakes!

To the left you will see Buyan Lake, the smaller of the twin lakes and the most scenic to look at. And to the right, Tamblingan Lake, covered a little by the forest but a great spot to head down to and explore further.

Separated by a rainforest-covered hill, almost 2km wide, Bali Twin Lakes used to be one whole lake until a landslide separated them in around the 1800’s.

Now this awesome viewpoint is becoming an attraction for locals and tourists.

Both trekking and canoeing are available around the area for those looking for something a little more active.

Treks can range anywhere from 2 to 8 hours. These can be booked at the kiosks along the main road.
