This is a popular destination for tourists and locals all year round. However, be prepared for minus temperatures outside in the winter in Helsinki.

During the summer months there is a rooftop restaurant available.

Sunday is probably the busiest day of the week to visit. So avoid this day if you like it a little quieter.

Some people recommend visiting after dark, especially in winter for the unique experience of the lights, steam and views across the harbour.

What To Expect At Allas Sea Pool Helsinki

Sauna’s are a huge part of Finnish culture. So if this isn’t on your things to do in Helsinki in winter list, you must have missed the memo.

As soon as we arrived in Finland we were bombarded with messages and information about how important saunas were to the nationals.

So with plenty around the city to choose from, Allas Sea Pool being the most popular, we simply had to check it out this Helsinki swimming pool!

The best sauna and Helsinki swimming pool

There are three different saunas at Allas Sea Pool Helsinki; women’s sauna, men’s sauna and a sauna for private events.

The sauna for private events is also used as a mixed-gender sauna when there are no reservations.

There are also three swimming pools. They are situated on the pool level that is floating on top of the sea. (There are lifeguards on duty here.)

The sea water pool (+1°C), warm water pool (+27°C) and children’s pool are all open and ready for anyone who wants to swim, exercise, or just hang out and enjoy.

If you plan on visiting, we highly recommend taking a woolly hat with you to wear in the outside pool.

The temperature outside in Helsinki in winter can drop to the minuses, although once you’re in the heated pool you soon warm up.

Plus if you want to nab a photo at this popular Helsinki Instagram spot, you’re going to need something to cover you up.

The main building also houses a cafe, restaurant, shop, winter garden, rooftop terraces and Baltic Sea Centre.

Allas Sea Pool Helsinki was easily our most memorable experience in the capital and we hope you enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity!
